Description

Ridgetop Park has recently opened to the public and is a great new place to explore!

With miles of off-lead dog walking, maps and signage to guide you along the way and various points of interest, the park provides a walk which will spark your curiosity. With wildlife in mind, Teignbridge Council are making sure they are doing their bit here, providing a natural food source for Cirl Bunting with fields of Spring Barley, wildflower meadows for pollinators, and wilder patches throughout.

Directions (click on the map below for more detail):

1, Begin the walk from the free car park at Trood Lane  - What3Words ///engage.soup.bond

2. Cross the footbridge by the car park and follow the footpath past the orchard on your right and bird screen on the left.

3. Head uphill and along the bottom of the first field, stopping off to enjoy the view at each bench and sign if you like!

4. Continue around the field to the large wooden gates/cycle rails, then go through the wooden gates to Deepway Lane.

5. Follow this lane until you reach the Cloud Base on your left which is a little area you can explore and enjoy the sky.

6. Go back towards the road again and cross it, then go through the gates here. Track left past the Spring Barley field and into the Sunrise Seat Area where you will find some carved sheep. You can extend the walk here by doing a loop around this field too and heading downhill, or, just loop back along the other side of the Spring Barley field.

7. Once back at the road (Old Matford Lane) again, cross over and go back down Deepway Lane and then complete the figure 8 loop by tracking right along the top of the field past the Sunset Seat area.
